Science @ Your Library presents “SAVING OHI’A, Hawaii’s Sacred Tree”

February 4, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Ohi'a blossom

Join us in the conference room for the film “Saving Ohi’a, Hawaii’s Sacred Tree”, a documentary highlighting the significance of Hawaii’s native tree, ohi’a, and the current threat of Rapid Ohi’a Death (ROD) that is impacting thousands of acres on Hawaii Island. In 2018, ROD was confirmed on Kauai in four locations.
This film provides an in-depth look into the cultural and ecological importance of Hawaii’s keystone species-and the potential impact of the current epidemic. Kim S. Rogers, Kauai ROD Outreach Specialist of the Kauai Invasive Species Committee, will be present following the screening for a Q & A session.

All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
