Celebrate Summer Reading! Our summer theme is E Heluhelu Kākou; Moʻolelo, and Hawaii’s public libraries will be celebrating the rich and varied stories that shape our communities.


Join storyteller Joe Miller for a storytelling bouquet of myths and stories to pique our imaginations. Experience the following:

  • Maui and Mahuika Goddess of Fire
  • Steadfast Tin Soldier: A Love Story
  • The Red Hand, Rolling Head, and Other Ghouls
    from a
    Palama Boyhood
  • Raven Steals the Light
  • Erysichthon and the Sacred Oak of Demeter

Joe Miller has been telling stories inside and outside of the classrooms for twenty years. He has performed as a mime, actor and juggler in schools and festivals throughout Hawai‘i.

This is a production of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program with additional funding provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and the University of Hawaii.
