About

Welcome to the Waialua Public Library! Built by Isamu Abe Construction, our current library is the smallest public library on Oahu. In 1997, the Public Library Association (division of American Library Association) honored it as the “Best Small/Rural Library in America.” In 2013, our library celebrated its 85th Anniversary in grand-style.

Upcoming events at this branch

The library will be closed on FRIDAY, AUGUST 17th due to Admissions Day. We will resume Toddler Time on Friday, August 24th.

Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their parents are invited to join us at the Waialua library for songs, stories, lap rhymes, and rhythm activities every Friday at 10am. Build pre-reading skills, meet other families, and find great new books at this weekly program for our littlest library-goers!

Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.

North Kohala Library writers group

The Waialua library hosts a writer’s group every 2nd Saturday of the month. Group members compose short stories and poems based on a monthly theme, but all writing is welcome, and new members are encouraged to bring their current projects and join the discussion.

All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
