Interested in the history of Japanese art? Join curator of Japanese art Stephen Salel for a fast-paced virtual tour of many artworks produced since the year 300, including several works designated as National Treasures. Discussion topics include the various formats of Japanese painting, the medium’s cultural origins, the meaning behind medieval Buddhist art, the different schools of painting in early modern Japan, and the political rivalries of 20th and 21st century artists. Talk will be held in the Library’s First Floor Reading Room.
