The Waimea Ocean Film Festival will present a special family screening of Undercover in the Jungle at the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library on January 15th.
Undercover in the Jungle follows a team of naturalists and wildlife filmmakers on an expedition into one of the most biodiverse regions of the Amazon rainforest. Their mission is to install a network of remotely operated cameras and mini-cams–fixed across all levels of the rainforest canopy and running round-the-clock—to capture a complete picture of the lives and wildlife there.
The free screenings are part of the Library’s NASA@My Library initiative to enhance STEM learning opportunities for public audiences nationwide with the excitement of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) exploration and discovery.
Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library is one of 75 public libraries (and the only library in the state of Hawaii) chosen to be part of NASA@My Library, led by the National Center for Interactive Learning (NCIL) at the Space Science Institute (SSI) in partnership with the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, the Pacific Science Center, Cornerstones of Science and the Education Development Center. This program is made possible through the support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate via a cooperative agreement between NASA and SSI. NASA@My Library is an initiative of the STAR Library Education Network (STAR_Net), a hands-on learning network for libraries and their communities across the country.
If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change.
