Thinker Thursdays is a 2 hour block where families can come into the library to access some of our Kahuku Cool Lab kits.
Check out the differences and similarities between various hands-on learning sets – K’NEX, Brain Flakes, Magformers, and Tegu Wooden Blocks.
K’NEX – What began as a simple rod & connector building set when K’NEX was invented by Joel Glickman in 1992, has grown to include wheels, pulleys and gears so kids could build vehicles, roller coasters and other innovative creations.
Brain Flakes– brand discs from VIAHART are a new construction toy which teaches both boys and girls spatial thinking and lets their imaginations run wild! Every jar contains over 500 discs, which means hours of endless fun and engineering education. In addition to brain building, Brain Flakes discs will improve the coordination and dexterity of young children, keeping both their minds and bodies active!
Magformers – Let your imagination run wild with the award winning Magformers. Design 2D patterns and pull them up into 3D towers, rockets, castles and large ‘magic balls’.The open nature of Magformers shapes are great for small fingers to handle and the instant connectivity will let the fun last for hours.– Amazon.com
