For the Month of October, the HSL Book Group will discuss The Ministry of Utmost Happiness by Arundhati Roy.
Named a Best Book of 2017 by NPR, Amazon, Kirkus, and The Washington Post, The Ministry of Utmost Happiness takes readers on a journey of many years, spooling outwards from the cramped neighborhoods of Delhi into the Valley of Kashmir and the forests of Central India, with its heroes broken by the world they live in and then patched together by acts of love.
The HSL Book Group meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Language, Literature, and History Section. New members are always welcome. No registration necessary. Inquiries about the Hawaii State Library Book Group can be directed to hslbookgroup@gmail.com or (808) 586-3499.
If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change. For a list of upcoming library events, visit test-library.ehawaii.gov/events
