The Art of Kapa with Dalani Tanahy

March 24, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

| Free
Dalani Tanahy holding Kapa

Learn about the rich cultural history of kapa making (bark cloth made from the paper mulberry tree) with Dalani Tanahy.  Dalani will be sharing her ike (knowledge or wisdom) of Hawaiian Kapa making.  Come and join us to learn more about this beautiful Hawaiian craft.

Dalani Tanahy is an accomplished kapa artist with over 20 years of experience. When Dalani is not creating her kapa pieces she can be found tending her garden of plants, which she harvests for her kapa pieces; or she can be found teaching or sharing her knowledge with anyone interested in learning.

Mahalo to our Kaimuki Friends of the Library for generously sponsoring this program!

Program schedule is subject to change.  Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
