The Japanese art of Sumi-e, or ink painting, involves limiting details to capture the essence of the subject. The art requires only simple materials such as black ink, water, rice paper, & brushes.
Artist Hisae Shouse and her students will demonstrate the art of Sumi-e at 10:00 a.m. in the First Floor Reading Room. A reception with the artists will follow.
