After discovering a box of old letters, Judith Burtner was surprised to learn that her grandmother, Hettie Belle, had worked as a governess for the Robinson family on Kaua`i over 100 years ago. Working with the Kaua`i Historical Society, Ms. Burtner searched for more context to tell her granny’s story in her book, Robinson Family Governess.
Judith Burtner lives in Anchorage, Alaska. She has worked as a teacher and commercial salmon fisherman. She studied history in college, and is fascinated by stories that flesh out facts and dates.
