Read to the registered therapy dogs of K9 TheraPets of Hawaii every 2nd Wednesday of the month! All the dogs that participate are specially trained and can help kids practice reading aloud without judgment. If you want a comfortable setting to practice your reading fluency, reading comprehension, or comfort with canines in general, this is the event for you. This free program is suitable for ages 2 and above. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
A sign-up sheet for 15 minute sessions with a dog will be available at the Children’s Reference Desk one week before the program, reservations can be made by phone or in person. Those not signed up will be matched based on availability.
All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date. For a list of upcoming library events, visit test-library.ehawaii.gov/events.
