Kula born and raised, Hawaiʻi State Poet Laureate Brandy Nālani McDougall sees poetry as a way to heal. Share your own story of Maui with Brandy as she helps participants create their own poems of Makawao. Supplies will be provided.
Brandy Nālani McDougall (Kanaka `Ōiwi, she / her / ’o ia) is the author of a poetry collection, The Salt-Wind: Ka Makani Pa’akai (2008). She is the Hawai’i Poet Laureate for 2023-2025 and lives with her keiki in Kalaepōhaku in the ahupua’a of Waikīkī, O’ahu. Her second poetry collection, ʻĀina Hānau, Birth Land, will be published in June 2023.
