Join us for a special performance and lecture on Kathak, classical Indian dance, by visiting artist Naina Roy. Her unique style of Kathak evokes a soft and subtle restraint combined with sharp lines, crisp footwork and evocative storytelling.
Roy began dancing at the age of eight as Dr. Pallabi Chakravorty’s first Kathak student and was a founding member of Courtyard Dancers. She is currently the Artistic Director of the Pittsburgh branch, which now operates as Naina Roy Kathak. Additionally, Roy is an Adjunct Kathak Faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Point Park University, Seton Hill University and Swarthmore College.
