See the 2019 Kahuku High School WE THE PEOPLE State Champions present their constitutional knowledge.
This 30 minute presentation will include highlights of the team’s trip to Washington DC and a Question and Answer portion.
Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Library Kahuku (FOLK).
Previous Kahuku “We the People” alumni have spoken of this capstone program as one of their “most valuable high school experiences,” one that both gave them a solid foundation for success at the university level and which engendered a deep commitment to community leadership and service.
With a strong desire to take part in this extraordinary tradition, 14 Kahuku High School students were inspired to form a team that meet after school and on Saturday mornings, holidays and during Christmas break to study the Constitution. They did this out of a sense of the program’s value rather than for a grade. So as a club, not a class, these students completed the same critically rigorous work as past students exclusively outside of their school day, and qualified for the National WTP competition, winning the 20th KHIS state championship. These students will travel to the Washington DC area to compete in the National Competition on April 27-30th.
All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
