Volunteers from K9 TheraPets of Hawaii will teach children (and their parents) what steps to take when greeting a dog. Besides being incredibly adorable, all furry wet-nosed quadrupeds in this program are registered therapy dogs with the national Alliance of Therapy Dogs. A meet and greet session will follow the presentation.
These volunteers visit hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, schools and facilities where interaction with their dogs provide a beneficial “therapeutic contact” for people.
Program schedule is subject to change. Contact library staff 15 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
