Volunteers from K9 TheraPets of Hawaii will teach children (and their parents) safety steps to take when approaching or greeting a dog. Besides being incredibly adorable, all furry wet-nosed quadrupeds in this program are registered therapy dogs with the national Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Have fun watching these specially trained dogs perform various exercises. A meet and greet session will follow the presentation. Children can also adopt and make their own paper dog, while supplies last. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
These volunteers visit hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, schools and facilities where interaction with their dogs provide a beneficial “therapeutic contact” for people.
Please note: this program is being held in lieu of a regular scheduled storytime.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library Kapolei.
All programs are subject to change. If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations.
