Join visiting teaching artists from Hui No‘eau Visual Art Center on Maui, for a fun & unique arts experience. After learning about some of the many flags that represent Hawaiian monarchs and the State of Hawai‘i, participants will use watercolor pencils to recreate a design of their choice. Try transforming some, or all of the color you add to your paper into paint, by brushing water over your drawing. For contrast and strong definition, water resistant drawing supplies may be incorporated too. Participants may choose to focus on creating only the flag design, or they could draw a landscape that includes a flag. What other symbols of Hawaii could you imagine making with watercolor pencils?
