In recognition of May as National Foster Care Month, the PlayBuilders of Hawaii in collaboration with The Foster Care Training Committee Present: “Dragonfly,” a community engaged play based on stories shared by former foster youth, resource care givers, therapists and social workers with playwright, Terri Madden and the PlayBuilders’ Ensemble over the course of 2016. Portions of the full-length production will be presented along with discussion with the cast and playwright about inspiration for the play and how we each can play a part in enhancing the lives of youth in foster care. The hour-long program in the First floor Reading Room is suitable for ages 10 and older.
Playbuilders of Hawai‘i Theater Company is a roving ensemble of theater makers whose mission is to gather and share real stories that resonate with, empower, and connect the many rich and diverse communities of Hawaiʻi.
The Foster Care Training Committee is a public-private partnership of organizations committed to enhancing the lives of children and youth in foster care and is comprised of representatives of many of Hawaii’s foster care helping organizations, including Family Programs Hawaii, Catholic Charities Hawaii, Queen Liliuʻokalani Children’s Center, Journey to Success, and Partners in Development- Hu’i Ho’omalu Program.
