PROGRAM CANCELLED – Documentary Screening: “The Serengeti Rules”

March 23, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The Serengeti Rules documentary cover

In partnership with the Waimea Ocean Film Festival, attend a free educational screening of “The Serengeti Rules.” Discover the incredible story of 5 pioneering scientist whose discoveries changed our understanding of nature and offer new hope for restoring our world.

Beginning in the 1960’s, a small band of young scientist headed out into the wilderness, driven by an insatiable curiosity about how nature works. Immersed in some of the most remote and spectacular places on Earth–from the majestic Serengeti to the Amazon jungle; from the Arctic Ocean to Pacific tide pools–they discovered a single set of rules that govern all life. Now in the twilight of their eminent careers, these five unsung heroes of modern ecology–Bob Paine, Jim Estes, Mary Power, Tony Sinclair, and John Terborgh–share the stories of their adventures, and how their pioneering work flipped our view of nature on its head.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change.
