Are you or your child stressed, anxious, struggling in work or school, or having difficulty managing emotions? Learning mindfulness can help you cope with challenging life events by teaching you awareness of self and the outer world. Outcomes can include improved empathy and compassion, listening skills, and even better school or work performance.

This 45-minute class taught by professional clinical psychologist Dr. Patrick Jichaku, Ph.D. will teach and provide an opportunity for attendees to practice mindful calming and attentional skills. He will use activities and exercises to show how to practice mindful awareness and to apply and integrate it into every day life.

Class will be held in library meeting room. Current limit of 12 participants. Please call the library at 808-622-6345 to register. Guests are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats; however, the library does have extra mats for guests who do not have them. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All ages are welcome to attend.

About the Speaker: Dr. Patrick Jichaku is a faculty clinical psychologist at the UH-Manoa Counseling and Student Development Center. He has taught mindful awareness methods for UH undergraduate and graduate students (and a few professors) since 2009. Dr. Jichaku started his own daily meditation practice 47 years ago and was taught to meditate by several excellent and traditional Zen meditation teachers.
