Barry Wurst is a film critic for Maui Times and the founder of the Hawaii Film Critics Society. Barry teaches film courses at the University of Hawaii Maui College, where he is a lecturer for the Academy of Creative Media. He also writes for Hollywood in Toto and Screen Geeks.com and has been published in Bright Lights Film Journal. Barry grew up in Makawao, taught film courses at University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and recieved his MA from Denver University. While a teenager, he first read Frank Herbert’s “Dune” in a single sitting at the Makawao Public Library.
