Book Club is reading two titles for November! Readers can choose either Satanic Verses or Joseph Anton both by Salman Rushdie.
Satanic Verses tells the story of Gibreel, who turns into the angel Gabriel, and Saladin, who is transformed into the devil. They meet several times over the course of their lives and bring ruin to each other. Intense controversy surrounding the novel led to Rushdie being put under police protection for years. Joseph Anton is a third-person memoir focusing on Rushdie’s time in seclusion.
The North Kohala Book Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 11:00am to discuss a title chosen by the club’s members. In the event of a holiday, book club will be held the following Tuesday. For more information, contact North Kohala Library at 808-889-6655. Recommended for ages 18 and older.
