Astrobash!

July 14, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Aunty Mimi's Astro-Bash

Space Rocks! Rock ‘n’ roll with us as we mark the end of Libraries Rock! – the 2018 Summer Reading Program – with a fun twist, because space rocks, too!

See lunar and meteorite sample disks on loan from NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, explore the spectacular night sky in a mobile planetarium, learn how to build-your-own spacesuit and an Alka Seltzer rocket with everyone’s favorite Aunty Mimi! Explore mysterious black holes and the inside of “planets,” make a pocket solar system, get hands-on experience with infrared cameras, and view the sun through a solar telescope! Then, indulge in shave ice and other out-of this-world delights!

This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and presented in collaboration with: CFH Telescope; SMA Observatory; West Hawaii Astronomy Club; W.M. Keck Observatory; Gemini Observatory; and the Institute for Astronomy at UH.

All programs are subject to change.  If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at 7 days before the program date.
