Attend a free lecture/demonstration on the art of performing with taiko (Japanese drums). This unique cultural & educational program introduces drums and percussion instruments of Japan as used in traditional and contemporary music. This 45-minute program is suitable for ages 4+.
Master taiko drummer Kenny Endo began his early music training in western drums & percussion for performance with jazz and classical artists. His taiko ensembles have performed extensively throughout the United States and in many other countries.
This is a production of the University of Hawai‘i Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program. Additional funding and support is provided by the Tom F. Carpenter Memorial Fund, National Endowment for the Arts, Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and the Friends of Salt Lake/Moanalua Library.
