Author Alexander Silvert, a federal public defender, represented Gerard Puana who was framed for felony theft of a mailbox. What started as a curious case soon became one of the biggest corruption cases seen in Hawai’i. Silvert has gone on to document the revelations and machinations of the case that exposed police chief Louis Kealoha and his prosecutor wife, Katherine Kealoha.
Silvert will discuss the case he meticulously reports in his book, The Mailbox Conspiracy: the inside story of the greatest corruption case in Hawai’i history recently released by Watermark Publishing.
