Born in Hawaiʻi, Patrick Ching has acquired a deep-rooted love for the islands and their wildlife.
In the 1980s, Patrick began working at the Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge with the late Dan Moriarty. He also did many trips to the remote Hawaiian atolls now called Papahānaumokuākea. Join us as Patrick shares some of the memories that have inspired his art. See birds that have now become extinct and places that no longer exist. Learn how to draw the super-secret pattern of the sea turtles back.
Patrick Ching is also the author of several books, including Sea Turtles of Hawaiʻi, The Hawaiian Monk Seal, and Honu and Hina. Currently, he is the host of the “Painting In Paradise” TV show on Spectrum OC16. Click here to learn more about Patrick and his work and to view free Hawaiian Animal coloring book artwork.
Patrons may have artwork and books signed at the Kīlauea Point Natural History table after the presentation.
