Join us at the North Kohala Public Library on April 08 at 6:30 pm for the final installment of a three-part series on Hawaiian history. Boyd Bond will talk about the word Kapu and the Kapu System.
Although we still see it in use on pasture gates, the word ‘Kapu’ does not literally mean “No Trespassing,” although that admonishment is certainly implied! The word has many meanings and implications, both ancient and modern. On Monday night we will explore the various meanings of the word, from the Kapu System of old Hawaiʻi to applications of kapu in modern times. Please join us!
