“The Turtle Ship” with Helena Ku Rhee

December 13, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Author Helena Ku Rhee will share her new book, The Turtle Ship, in this special guest-star Storytime!

The Turtle Ship is a picture book about a young boy who dares to dream BIG, even though people laugh at him. Inspired by his pet turtle, he enters a national contest for the best battleship design. The story is loosely based on true facts about the Korean hero Admiral Yi Sun-sin and his incredible turtle ship. The Turtle Ship is the debut book of author Helena Ku Rhee, as well as the debut for artist Colleen Kong-Savage, who illustrated the book with exquisite paper collage.

About the Author:

Helena Ku Rhee grew up in Los Angeles, but has also lived in various parts of the U.S., Asia and Europe. She loves to travel far and wide across this beautiful planet, counting among her favorite journeys a camping trip in the Sahara Desert, a swim with elephants in Thailand and a horseback-riding tour of Easter Island. She currently lives in Los Angeles, and draws story ideas from her travels.
