In June, the Book Smart Book Club will meet on the 6th to discuss The City of Falling Angels by John Berendt, call number 945.31 Be.
The author of the bestseller Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil turns to the magic, mystery, and decadence of Venice. Berendt gradually reveals the truth behind a sensational fire that in 1996 destroyed the historic Venice opera house. Encountering a rich cast of characters, he tells a tale full of atmosphere and surprise as the stories build, one after the other, ultimately coming together to portray a world as finely drawn as a still-life painting.
The Book Smart Book Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Language, Literature and History Section of the Hawaii State Library. New members are always welcome. No registration necessary. Inquiries about the Book Club can be directed to booksmartbookclub@gmail.com or 808-586-3499.
Program schedule is subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
