In her book, The Filipinos of Koloa, Catherine Lo highlights the Filipino experience on the Koloa Plantation from 1910 to 1996. This recently published book discusses the history of the plantation, the various ethnic groups who worked there, and daily life on the plantation camps.
Catherine Lo was a public school and academic librarian who retired as head librarian of Kaua’i Community College. Her previous book is Lihue Lutheran Church Centennial Album, published in 1981. Copies of her book will be available for purchase, and part of the proceeds will benefit the Friends of Waimea Public Library.
