First Wednesday of the Month, Makawao Library – 5:30 PM
In the winter months when it is dark, this program will be held indoors in the Hawaiiana/computer area.
Program is intended for grown-up storytellers, this is not a keiki storytime.
[May 1st, June 5th, July 3rd …]
Program led by Maui Author and Artist Jim Lynch.
Come share stories with us under the jacaranda tree at Makawao Library. Stories can be written by you or your favorite author. Oral storytelling is telling a story through voice and gestures. The tradition of oral storytelling is ancient and crosses cultures. The oral tradition can take many forms: epic poems, chants, rhymes, songs, and more – and can encompass personal experience, myths, legends, fables, religion, prayers, proverbs, and instructions.
This Free program is intended for adults or older children accompanied by an adult. Held in the Hawaiiana section or outdoors only as the weather allows.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
