Artificial intelligence like ChatGPT is transforming education and how we access and analyze information. Jonathan Young, a Science and Technology Librarian from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, will present a workshop on the basics of how these AI technologies work and how they are being used, and misused, in education and the research process. This will include a hands-on demonstration and exploration of some useful ways ChatGPT can be used effectively that may enrich your own learning experiences.
Jonathan Young is a Science and Technology Librarian at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Hamilton Library, specializing in the areas of the Natural Sciences: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer science. Since learning about ChatGPT in 2022, he has been working on several projects to incorporate AI tools into academic library work, and provided multiple workshops at UHM and other library organizations on the effective and ethical use of AI in higher education.
