Fresh Flower Lei Making for Kids: A Spark Aloha Project

Learn a brief history of lei-making and giving to understand the strong cultural connection a lei has within Hawaiian culture. Students will learn the basics of lei making and have the opportunity to gift the lei to someone special to them, along with thank you note.

For Ages 8 – 18: Ages 8-10 must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Kapu Kates is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Hawaii in Hawaiian Language studies.

Spark Aloha is a funded Hawaii Positive Engagement Project in partnership with Marisela Larson and Yui Pacis.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact the library as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
