Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

October 24, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Blue Smoke Skull on Black Background

Join the Librarian for a live reading of Alvin Schwartz’s classic Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and other ghostly stories perfect for Halloween. Filled with lots of super creepy imagery and plenty of jump scares, this book series continues to give nightmares to children and adults alike. For this event, the library will turn the lights out and attendees with gather around the storyteller campfire-style to listen to some of the spookiest stories you’ve ever heard. Feel free to bring pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals and/or wear pajamas or comfy clothing, as this storytelling is meant to evoke a camp-out or sleepover feel.

NOTE FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS! Great for teens and older kids, this event is not recommended for children under the age of 8 or those who frighten easily. The room will be dark, with minimal light, and the stories may be quite intense and scary for very young children. Due to the nature of these stories, there may be jump scares as well. Any children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Program schedule is subject to change depending on staff or volunteer availability. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
