The Hawaii State Public Library System is thrilled to announce the winner of the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge Grand Prize Drawing! Kerysa Perez, adult patron of Kalihi-Palama Public Library won four round trip tickets to anywhere Alaska Airlines flies! Her name was drawn from over 16,000 reading participants statewide.
At the recent presentation, State Librarian Stacey A. Aldrich, along with Nainoa Mau, Executive Director of the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i, and Jacob Aki, Hawaii Public Affairs Manager of Alaska Airlines, presented four Round Trip tickets to Kerysa Perez at the Kalihi-Palama Public Library.
This summer, 16,257 readers joined the eight-week challenge, collectively logging 15.2 million minutes of reading. With the summer’s theme, “E Heluhelu Kākou: Seeds of Knowledge,” public libraries across the state hosted family-friendly activities celebrating our islands, people, cultural heritage, foods and arts.
The 2023 Summer Reading Challenge was sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i, Alaska Airlines, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, Ward Village, McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii and Pizza Hut Hawaii.
