Carrie Newcomb will demonstrate how to make lei po`o (wili style) and assist participants in making their own wristlets. Participants are encouraged to bring fresh flowers and ti leaves to share.
Carrie is a Waimea-based Hawaiian cultural practitioner who has taught elementary students Hawaiian language and culture for many years. Her latest endeavor is starting a West Kauai hui to learn the ancient Hawaiian tradition of pounding kapa.
This program is for up to 10 adults (18 years and up). Registration is required—please call the library if you would like to sign up.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
