Learn about the amazing people and organizations of Waimea at Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library’s end-of-summer reading challenge celebration! The Seeds of Knowledge Community Fair, a free family-friendly event, will be held from 10a.m. to 2p.m. on Saturday, July 29, at the library. All are invited.
In keeping with the Hawaii State Public Library System’s summer reading challenge theme, Seeds of Knowledge, friends and neighbors from the community will be on hand to share information about their work and lead a wide range of educational activities for families. There will be solar viewing, seed paper, water safety/ocean awareness, watershed booths, coloring, pressed flower bookmarks, along with plant and seed giveaways, UV light bracelets, chess, and more.
Participating organizations include Alex & Duke DeRego Foundation, Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, Friends of Thelma Parker Memorial Library, Girl Scouts of Hawaii, Kahilu Theatre, Tutu’s House, Waimea Arts Council, Waimea Outdoor Circle, Waimea Trails & Greenways, Waimea Preservation Association and many more.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. All programs are subject to change.
