Volunteers from K9 TheraPets of Hawaii will teach children (and their parents) safety steps when approaching or greeting a dog. Besides being incredibly adorable, all furry wet-nosed quadrupeds in this program are registered therapy dogs with the national Alliance of Therapy Dogs. A meet and greet session will follow the presentation. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
These volunteers visit hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, schools and facilities where interaction with their dogs provide a beneficial “therapeutic contact” for people.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library Kapolei.
