Celebrate “Oceans of Possibilities”, our 2022 Summer Reading Challenge!

Scott Crawford, Opihi program speakerFor the community of Kīpahulu, on Maui, one non-profit called the Kīpahulu ʻOhana, seeks to use the wisdom of their kūpuna (elders) to re-establish a traditional sustainable lifestyle in their community. The Kīpahulu ʻOhana ʻOpihi Rest Area is a project which focuses on a voluntary community no-take zone or ʻopihi sanctuary for a section of shoreline adjacent to Haleakalā National Park. Learn about this project, the ʻOpihi population survey results and how you and your community can also Mālama I ke Kai from Scott Crawford, the Executive Director of the Kīpahulu ʻOhana. This one-hour program is suitable for Teens & Adults.
