Brazilian Music with Yaô

June 25, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm

Yao, a Brazilian music duo

Yaô is a duo that explores the Afro-Brazilian traditional music and folklore and consists of Gustavo D’Amico on woodwinds and Rafael Amaral on guitar. The award winning Brazilian musicians have performed at many Jazz festivals around the world.

The duo showcases the mastery of their musical traditions in concerts, masterclass, and  interactive performances in which the audience assume an active role, incorporating some of the most popular Brazilian rhythms such as Samba, Bossa Nova, Choro, Baião, Forró among others.

This is a production of the University of Hawai‘i Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program. Additional funding and support is provided by the Tom F. Carpenter Memorial Fund, National Endowment for the Arts, Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and Friends of Hanapepe Public Library.
