Hawaii PhotoVentures has been long time dream and passion project of Wrenn Okada, the owner, director and curriculum developer of Hawaii’s only elementary age focused photography program. Still managing and instructing for Play-Well TEKnologies, a popular STEM-Based LEGO program, Wrenn wanted to focus and spread his knowledge and experiences to his students with one of his biggest passions, photography!
The class designed for 1st-6th graders immerses students to explore and document the intricacies of the world through various mediums of photography, including portraiture, landscape, commercial, macro and fine art photography, while shooting around their own campus. All students will have access to professional-grade Sony Mirrorless Cameras, Fujifilm Instant LiPlay Cameras, professional studio lighting equipment plus much more. All materials (including the cameras, film, equipment and props) will be included and each student will be taking home a printed mini-portfoio of their photography.
Wrenn has been practicing this exciting art form for about 10 years now. His adventures through photography have allowed him to professionally work with some of the biggest musical artists in the world, like Snoop Dogg, Usher, Migos, Sublime with Rome, Marshmello, Steve Aoki, Lana Del Rey, Damian Marley, and events such as The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) and Summer Sonic Festival in Japan. His work has also been featured in publications such as The San Francisco Chronicle, Elle Decor Magazine, Honolulu Family Magazine and Hawaii Farm and Food Magazine, as well as many of the photos used by Play-Well TEKnologies.
