This lecture by Joan Masaki, a member of the Hawaii Quilt Guild and the featured artist for the Guild’s 2019 Annual Quilt Show, will cover Japanese fabrics/textiles, sashiko stitching, fabric folding (also called fabric “origami”), and some Japanese design elements (including seasonal motifs, family crest designs), and some history of patchwork and quilting in Japan. She will bring quilts to show which include the elements she will discuss.
