Book Club Hub: SEEDFOLKS

October 29, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

SeedFolks

This month’s selection for BOOK CLUB HUB, TEEN/Parent Book Club; Seedfolks, allows Newbery-winning author Paul Fleischman to use thirteen speakers, each from a different ethnic group, to describe the transformation of an empty lot into a vibrant community garden  and in doing so, they each experience their own transformations. The story’s quiet beauty unfurls effortlessly–and lingers after the final page has been turned. Adults and teens can attend with or without family members. Several copies of the book are available for you to check out at Pearl City Public Library in addition to being located at various other branches. You are welcome to attend even if you have not read the book prior to the book club meeting. The format of this particular book, told in thirteen short chapters from thirteen very different points of view makes it easy to participate in discussions. Seedfolks has been drawn upon to teach tolerance and performed in schools and on stages from South Africa to Broadway. Contact the Pearl City Teen Librarian if you have any questions.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
