When Michael is using the Demographics Now database, he’s where he belongs.

My story with the library started very young – before I could even read.  Books and visits to the library were a part of my family tradition. Growing up we would visit the library frequently – especially during the summer when the days were longer and time to read more plentiful. My wife and I have tried to instill that same tradition and love of reading with our own family. We try to make it to our Kailua Library at least once a week, and my two children participate in their summer reading program.

As an entrepreneur, businessman, and life long learner, I’ve discovered the library has so much more. I’m taking advantage of their prolific collection of on-line and virtual resources. One resource in particular I’ve found critical to my business’ success has been Gale’s Demographics Now online database. It contains extensive nationwide data on companies and people. The wealth of information contained in it is phenomenal!  You can search the data by industry, geography, company size, revenue, and more. Given my marketing experience, I can attest to the need to determine market size and target your marketing efforts as accurately as possible. The Demographics Now database gives you access to a list building tool that can do all that and much more. The possibilities are mind-boggling. Access to a tool like this in the “corporate world” costs thousands of dollars. Thanks to the Hawaii Public Library and its’ generous supporters we have big-company benefits, for the “price” of a library card. I encourage you to explore how this and any of the other online or on-site tools and resources may help your business.
