About

Welcome to the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library! Designed by Team Pacific, Inc., our library opened in October 1978.  We are located on the campus of Waimea Elementary and Intermediate School. Our library was named after Thelma Parker, who inherited the Parker Ranch, the largest ranch on the Island of Hawaii.

Upcoming events at this branch

The Library hosts story time every Thursday (except for the last Thursday of the month) for keikis, 2-5 and their families.  The program includes stories and songs with a simple craft activity to follow.  This enjoyable and bonding experience can provide opportunities for brain development and the building of friendships.  All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.  Special Events may be held in lieu of regularly scheduled programs.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at 7 days prior to the program date.  We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations.

All programs are subject to change.  For a list of upcoming library events, visit test-library.ehawaii.gov

'Art Class' title with paint pots and brushes

On the first Saturday of each month, the Waimea Arts Council (WAC), in partnership with Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library, instructs a class  on a variety of art forms.  WAC artists create monthly classes about art, from watercolors to sculpting.  The classes are held in the library meeting room, with all supplies provided by the Waimea Arts Council.  Class size is limited and advance registration is required for each class.  Come in person or call Thelma Parker at 808-887-6067 to register.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. Program schedule is subject to change.
