Upcoming Events

Pipe cleaner Christmas ornaments

Looking for some new decorations for the holidays?  Pearl City Public Library has some teen take and make kits containing all the supplies and instructions (except for glue and scissors) to make two different pipe cleaner Christmas Tree ornaments.  Stop by the YA area to get yours.  There is a limit of one per person until supplies last. Have a little holiday fun without ever leaving home! Kits will be available starting December 10.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.

Strawberry ice cream

Yes! Let’s make Tin Can Ice Cream! January 15 is when we celebrate this tasty cold treat. Dating back to at least 1813, strawberry ice cream was served at the second inauguration of James Madison. Making homemade ice cream in a can is fun, easy and uses only a few ingredients. Our ice cream will be  made by blending strawberry flavoring with eggs, evaporated milk, vanilla and sugar in a 1 lb coffee can surrounded by ice and rock salt in a larger 3 lb can. Ingredients will be provided but please bring a clean, empty 1 lb and 3 lb coffee can if you are able. Some will be provided; and call to reserve a spot! 808-453-6566 beginning on December 28.

Bingo Cards

Let’s face it–some movies are so bad–they are difficult to watch. The cure? Bad Movie Bingo! A game designed to get you through those cheesy one liners, bad ape costumes, car crashes and mullet haircuts. Pearl City Public Library will show a selection of  “bad” movies September, October, December, February, March, April and May–First Tuesday of these months. Come in–get a bingo card you use for the whole series, watch the movies and mark off each time an element (event, character trait, plot point) on the card (bad camera angle, cheap props, overused quips, etc.) appears on the screen, mark it off. First person to get a BINGO! pattern for the series will get a $10 gift card to a local movie theater.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
